Making Onion Compost At Home

Onions are used in everyone's kitchen. Onion is added to many vegetables, so from this onion we quickly can prepare compost, which is very beneficial for the plant and also acts as a decoction. It is also a very good fertilizer, it also acts as a pesticide because insects are not able to attack due to the smell of onions, then there is good amount growth and safety of plants.

We can make compost of onions in three ways –

1. Liquid Compost

Collect the peel of the onion and put it in a plastic box, pouring water in it, take care that the water should not be filled completely in the box, some space is to be kept so that the air can come out.

Now close the lid of the box a little in the middle, the lid has to be opened and then closed immediately, after three to four days this water has to be filtered and more water has to be mixed in it and then this water has to be poured/sprayed in all the plants.

2. Solid Compost

The onion peels have to be collected and then spread these peels in every pot, slowly in a day or two, these peels will mix with the soil and this Compost will be very nutritious for the plants and will also act as a pesticide.

3. Powdered Compost

Collect the peel of Onion and put it in a plastic box, put the lid on it, show sunlight in between, it will dry up and turn into powder in a few days, it may take some time to make this compost, then pour it little by little in the plants.

Important things to be noted -

  • Always use a plastic or clay pot for composting.
  • You Should open the lid to let the air escape.
  • Keep the pot in a sunny-shaded place.
